FLOAT Clarksville offers families in the Middle Tennessee area a range of high quality language classes for adults and children. Classes are taught in person in Clarksville and online, on a 4-quarter, 30-week academic year. All classes are offered a la carte so families can mix and match the options that best meet their families needs. Students experience group learning in a classroom with others at their language skill level. In addition to classes, FLOAT offers seasonal events and extracurricular activities, such as clubs, contests, and dinners.
Our Values

Student Driven Learning
Language is introduced with an extensive variety of topics and conversations of interest to the students to make learning more effective and rapid.
Fluency Focused
The purpose of language learning is not (only) to pass a test; its main purpose is communication. Students will actively communicate in each lesson instead of being on "input mode." Functional English happens quickly when lessons apply it to real-world situations and practice.

Game Based
Worksheets have their place and are good references, but adding a little competition and fun to the lesson opens up neural pathways through creativity and connection.
Comprehensive Skills
Unless noted, each lesson covers the four main language skills: reading, writing, speaking, and listening. This will be beneficial to students seeking better employment or better performance on required tests in their career or public school.

Strategic Autonomy
Curriculum will train learners on how to monitor and recognize their own progress to enable them to become independent language learners.
Sociolinguistic Skills
As a community of learners who are living together and working together, mutual understanding and appreciation of the culture and environment is helpful in ensuring students’ success in learning the language.
